After this fatal mass shooting held at a queer club in Colorado Springs, US, people flock to support the US Army veteran who subdued the gunman and saved dozens of lives. Richard Fierro and his wife Jessica run a local craft beer brewery called Atrevida Beer Co. The brewery, which means “brave, brave, daring woman” in Spanish, is Colorado’s first Latin American-owned brewery. People visit Atrevida’s website to buy merchandise and gift cards as a token of gratitude and appreciation for Fierro.
Fierro was at Club Q with his wife and daughter to watch a drag show being performed by his daughter’s girlfriend when the shooting happened. After his combat training, Fierro was able to engage the gunman and pin him to the ground, averting major loss of life.
Two of Fierro’s friends suffered bullets from the shooter’s semi-automatic rifle and are hospitalized. His daughter’s boyfriend, Raymond Green Vance, was among the five dead. José Andrés, founder of the nonprofit World Central Kitchen, Meena Harris, niece of US Vice President Kamala Harris, and sportswriter Molly Knight tweeted about the Fierro family business and urged people to shop on their website.
Mr. Fierro is a hero. Risk his life to save the lives of others. With his bare hands! His daughter’s boyfriend died in the shooting……😔He and his wife own a brewery…https://t.co/8O6eOz4bzL Let’s show the respect he deserves…let’s support their beer… https://t.co/ MXUEoWcC1G

Interestingly, many netizens noticed that the merch on Atrevida’s website featured t-shirts with quotes like “Good intentions never change.” Action.” and “Diversity, it’s on tap”.
Many people also spoke about participating in an upcoming fundraiser that Atrevida is organizing for an LGBTQ+ resource center on November 29, 2022. However, it is unclear if the fundraiser, which was scheduled ahead of Saturday’s events, will go ahead as planned in light of the recent tragedy.
