No. 18 North Carolina will play for the ACC Championship next weekend. NC State is headed to a bowl game.
Before that, the two rivals close out the regular season with their annual Grudge Match.
The Tar Heels (9-2, 6-1 ACC) and Wolfpack (7-4, 3-4) both wrestle as the postseason beckons. NC State has lost back-to-back, while UNC saw its six-game winning streak end when Georgia beat Tech 21-17 at Chapel Hill last Saturday.
A national television audience on ABC will give UNC quarterback Drake Maye a chance to further his bid for the Heisman Trophy after losing to Georgia Tech hurt his case. Maye leads the ACC in passing yards (3,614) and has thrown 34 touchdown passes and just four interceptions.
NC State is at the opposite end of the quarterback spectrum. Devin Leary, ACC preseason player of the year, suffered a season-ending injury in October. Freshman MJ Morris led the Wolfpack to victories over Virginia Tech and Wake Forest but was injured in a 21-20 loss to Boston College on November 12. Morris did not play in the 25-10 loss in Louisville last Saturday.
Ben Finley and Jack Chambers are possible starters for the wolfpack if Morris is unable to face UNC.
