A man is reportedly suspected of going into a house and shooting and killing his ex-wife during Thanksgiving dinner.
In addition to his ex-wife, the man is suspected of having shot and killed another man in the apartment and critically injured two other people.
FOX26 reporter Matthew Seedorff took to Twitter on Thursday to explain the situation.
“A gunman went into a home on the 1500 block of Baggett Lane in northwest Houston and shot 4 people dead. Two of the victims are dead. The shooter escaped on foot,” Seedorff wrote in a tweet.
In a follow-up tweet, he added: “Police say an adult man and woman are dead. A second adult man and 15-year-old boy are seriously injured and are being taken to hospital.”
He gave more details and tweeted: “Update: Police say a family celebrated Thanksgiving.
“A woman’s ex-husband went through the back door of the house and started shooting. The woman and another man were killed.
“Two others are in hospital now. The shooter has not been identified and escaped.”
Houston Deputy Police Commissioner Patricia Cantu also spoke to reporters at the scene and provided an update.
“Today we are in Block 1500 of Bagette Lane. Officers received a call at 9:18 p.m. regarding an ongoing shooting, officers arrived at 9:23 a.m. with the Houston Fire Department,” she said.
“Officials entered the residents and found four people shot dead inside the house,” Cantu said.
“Two of them have been declared dead, we received an injection for a 15-year-old, he is now in stable condition and we had another man who is in critical condition in hospital right now.”
She went on to say that the people in the house had just finished eating and were celebrating Thanksgiving when the gunman came in through the back door and started shooting.
She said: “The suspect fired multiple shots and even reloaded his gun at the scene.
“We know it’s the ex-husband of the deceased, we don’t know where he is, we don’t have his name yet, that will come out [down the line].
“We will later ask the public and the media for help to catch this man who killed two people and injured two in this home.
“This is a very sad situation, it’s Thanksgiving, people are supposed to celebrate with their families. We know this was a domestic incident, we pray for the families.”
