Red Raiders host Kansas for Senior Day

LUBBOCK, TX— The Texas Tech Red Raiders (15-13, 4-11 Big 12) host the Kansas Jayhawks in their final game of the season on Senior Day at the United Supermarkets Arena on Friday, November 25 at 1:00 p.m.

Five Seniors – Bradi Marshall, KJ Adams, Alex Torres, Karrington Jones and Brooke Kanas – are recognized after the game has ended.

The Red Raiders lose to the Kansas State Wildcats by five sets on Wednesday. In the match, libero Maddie Correa eclipsed 500 career digs after posting a career high of 31 digs. This now ranks her ninth in single-game digs, while also holding the fifth-most digs in a five-set match in school history.

Kanas played in her 135th career match yesterday, which now ranks third in school history. It also needs three blocks to rank at number 10 with 329 blocks. Against Kansas State, Jones added three more blocks to her career total and now totals 339, ranking sixth in program history.

Reese Rhodes hit a career-high three aces in the match and grabbed her 12th double-double of the year with 51 assists and 15 digs. Kenna Sauer also added a double-double with 13 kills and 17 digs. The Red Raiders had a best 102 digs of the season in the match, with four players recording double-digit dig performances.

As a team, the Red Raiders have a combined total of 1,391 kills, 1,286 assists, 129 aces, 1,594 digs and 250.5 blocks. Sauer leads the team with 412 kills and 456.0 points, Rhodes posts a team high with 992 assists and Maddie O’Brien has a team-leading 39 aces. Defensively, Correa leads with 353 digs and Kanas with 107.0 blocks as the team’s best.

Kansas holds a record of 17-37 against Texas Tech. The Jayhawks also won the two teams’ first meeting on October 15 with a five-set win in Lawrence. Kansas boasts an 18-9 overall record and an 8-5 Big 12 record, and recently defeated Iowa State in five sets on Nov. 19. As a team, the Jayhawks have a total of 1,280 kills, 1,176 assists, 125 aces, 1,419 digs, and 264.0 blocks.

Redshirt newcomer Ayah Elnady leads offensively with kills (283), points (347.0) and aces (38). Camryn Turner averaged the season’s top team with 937 assists, while Kennedy Farris added 102 more. On the defensive end, Farris also has a team-leading 312 digs and Lauren Dooley has a team-high 74.0 blocks overall.

Tickets for the game can be bought here. Gates will open one hour before the game and clear bag policy will apply. Fans can buy tickets from 12:00 p.m. at the box office at the NW entrance. As a reminder, game time has been moved from 6pm to 1pm due to possible weather in the Lubbock area.
